Free State Provincial government continues to sabotage young Mayor

By Mandla Nkosi: Almost a year after he was elected as the youngest mayor in the Free State for the poverty stricken Kopanong Municipality Xolani Tseletsele still runs the Municipality without Key officials that among others includes Municipal Manager and Chief financial officer.

Using his Facebook Account, Tseletsele says he has inherited bankrupt municipality, which is unable to deliver basic services delivery demands and paying employee salaries.

Tseletsele who is communist party flamboyant adds he is not enjoying support from the provincial government to improve operations at the municipality.

He adds municipality, which includes Jagersfontein, has been without managers  and directors, since November 2021.

Ahead of his election Tseletsele was against the now collapsed Jaggersfontein mine dam that is closer to the peoples houses. He has since joined community members of Itumeleng who are aiming to sue the mine and government following the mudslide that collapsed and damaged 164 houses, and leaving one person dead.

At the time of publishing the article department of cooperative governance didn’t respond, to our questions.
