Bethlehem: The Hawks‘Serious Organized Crime Investigation team, together with Public Police Order and Tactical Response Team arrested six suspects between the ages of 28 and 47 for attempted cash in transit heist in Paul Roux on Tuesday, 03 May 2022.
According to Captain Christopher Singo, the EFS Security Officials were delivering money at the Post Office, when the suspects started shooting at the security vehicle.
“One of the officials left the vehicle with a bag containing an undisclosed amount of money. The driver who was in the car saw a number of suspects and then drove off but crashed into the car which was blocking the way. The security official outside managed to get in the vehicle.” Singo said
The Security officials escaped the scene and drove to Paul Roux Police Station for assistance. An intelligence driven Operation was conducted by the Police, where information was received and followed up which led to the arrest of the suspects.
The suspects are expected to appear before the Bethlehem Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 06 May 2022
