Bloemfontein: Members of the nullified ANC PEC in the Free State are seeming to be also failing to unite, this is after the Provencial Secretary Paseka Nompondo in a Letter Accused his Chairperson Sam Mashinini, as not authorised to have appealed the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) verdict in Constitutional Court.
According to the leaked letter sent to the ANC Lawyers Moroka attorneys, instructing them to withdraw the appeal, it is stated that Mashinini is not the right person to file the appeal but Nompondo.
“This letter serves to inform yourselves that the ANCFS PEC is not proceeding with the appeal. The ANC national officials as well as the National Working Committee have directed the PEC that this matter be resolved through Political and organisational processes and not through the legal processes. This political and organisational process is currently proceeding,
We also wish to confirm that the Chairperson, Cde Sam Mashinini did not have the authority or was not mandated to file an affidavit on behalf of the PEC.” Reads the letter
The PEC has long allegedly been divided, with others wanting Mashinini to be replaced by former ANC Provincial Treasure and staunch Ramaphosa supporter Mxolisi Dukwana, while others want the current ANCMPL and ChiefWhip Vusi Tshabalala to take the reigns.
However, a source had revealed that since ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa is set to visit Free State next week, Nompondo is also acting as loner trying to reposition himself, as what would seem to be action of unity as NEC directed.
