Bloemfontein: Police confirmed the loss of it’s member on Friday night, 29th November following gun shot at Rockland in Bloemfontein.
They discovered a body of Khotso Lesia, police chaplain and preacher who is believes to have committed suicide.
It is unknown why Chaplain Lesia ended his life with his work pistol. The man who would preach to men and women in blue has departed ending his own life, this was also confirmed by a close family member who said: “We are all devastated, he was a good uncle and father to us all and he believed in God,” she said.
Not long ago the minister of Police Bheki Cele called on officials from refraining resorting to ending their lives when they are experiencing hardship.
“It is true life comes in different ways but we shouldn’t be criminals while our work is to catch criminals, we’ve had few of suicide cases by our own members and we have people in our mist who deals with psychological issues,” said Cele.
The Insider understands that Lesia was facing personal matters which motivated his decision to end his life.
Police in the Free State have lost few members who committed suicide this year an act which the provincial commissioner has slammed.
Our job is to bring safety to the people not adding to what they feel as unsafe South Africa due to our own members.
Meanwhile, before moving to the police headquarters offices Lesia was stationed at Bloemspruit police shop.
Close colleagues are expected to go to his home on Saturday and Sunday.
