Bloemfontein: Commemorating this day we are looking into the events and reason why people opt to commit suicide.

In the free state according to police reports there were about 7 suicides since January 2019 to this far.

Out of seven people who committed suicide in the Free State this year, two of them are members of the Souh African Police Services.

The Insider have identied SAMHA as the national service provider in this regard.

According to it suicide thoughts are mental problem althought people don’t want to admit.

“We have received calls every day from people who feel helpless, hopeless and in need of urgent crisis intervention.”

It adds that ” Over 145 334 people have reached out to our call centre since January 2019. Over 40 000 of these people called our Suicide Crisis Helpline.”

The SA Mental health Association claims that they provide telephonic couselling to many vulnerable people.

“We run the country’s only Suicide Helplines (0800 567 567) offering free telephone counselling, information, crisis intervention and referrals to resources country wide – open 7 days a week, 365 days a year. There is always help available. You are not alone.”

In the last two years the country experienced few reports of suicides by children under the age of 18.

While this day is of key issue people still believe that it is not given the attention.
