Accounting pupils to be awarded

Bloemfontein: EDUCATION MEC Dr Tate Makgoe and the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), will today 5th July 2019, award best Grade 12 pupils in Maths, Science and Accounting at the University of the Free State (Main Campus).

Makgoe said about 200 pupils attended the week long Development Camp to sharpen their academic performance and improve their social skills.

“Pupils were given tests to assess their performance and will be awarded based on excellence.

The expected outcome is to have this pool of pupils pursuing a career in Science and Accounting to address the skills shortage in these fields of study,” said Makgoe.

He said the ceremony will be held at the New Education Building from 9 am.

He said that the hard work is continuing for the class of 2019 at the various schools across the province and he is optimistic that Free State will regain its number one spot.

The province occupied second position behind Gauteng in last year’s matric results which resulted them into losing the top spot.
